Volunteer State Community College - Veterinary Technology Program
The Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Veterinary Technology program provides students with both classroom and clinical experiences. Students will spend the majority of their clinical experience in various veterinary settings including referral centers and private clinical practices. Both four-semester and six-semester options are available.
- The program is accredited by the AVMA CVTEA as a program for educating veterinary technicians and is designed to prepare students for the Veterinary Technician National Exam and credentialing (certification, licensure, or registration) which is required in the majority of states.
- This is a competitive program that requires a separate application and interview before admittance into the program.
Career Roles
Veterinary technicians are similar to human nurses with jobs that include: anesthetist, dental hygienist, medical laboratory technician, surgical technician, and radiology technician.
